RESEARCH LAB TECHNICIAN
Job Description
We are looking for a research lab technician to join our team. The right candidate will be extremely proficient in basic lab techniques and procedures. You will be assisting in the design, research set-up and execution of experiments that require a high-level of attention and diligence. You will be required to calibrate and handle sensitive equipment, work in and manage sterile environments, assist with ordering and maintaining lab supplies, and report and record experimental procedures and findings in meticulous detail. Our research techniques change in response to new findings, so the right candidate must be flexible and adept at learning new skills as our research evolves.

Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory experiments involving protein gel electrophoresis and membrane transfer.
- Perform Western blotting, detection, and analysis using a chemiluminescence imager.
- Determine suitable controls and analysis for all experiments.
- Create reproducible standard protocols and troubleshoot as necessary.
- Work with other scientists to develop standard operating procedures.
- Execute protocols to aid in an understanding of the properties of lipids and proteins.
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. degree.
- 3+ years experience in a bioscience research lab.
- Ability to keep accurate, organized records and maintain an electronic notebook.
- Ability to clearly organize and archive samples.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the project.
- Ability to meet agreed upon deadlines, manage time effectively and work efficiently.
- Ability to coordinate and participate in standard lab upkeep.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Has a passion for learning and contributing to a game-changing project.

- Applicants must be able to commute daily and work from our laboratory located in Downtown, Los Angeles CA

RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Job Description
We are looking for a research scientist to join our team. This is not a 9-5 job. We are looking for a candidate that shares our passion for environmental sustainability and our drive for commercial success. We are currently in the early phases of research and development so your work here will be instrumental in guiding the next generation of environmentally sustainable foods to market.
The right candidate will be extremely proficient in the lab in all experimental procedures related to genetic engineering in plants and will have significant experience working with plants in a lab setting including germination of seeds, grafting, etc. You will be designing, researching, setting-up and performing experiments that require a high-level of attention and diligence. You will be required to calibrate and handle sensitive equipment, work in and manage sterile environments, assist with ordering and maintaining lab supplies, and report and record experimental procedures and findings in meticulous detail.
If you have at least 4 years of related lab experience in plant microbiology; if you’re passionate about changing how the world feeds itself; if you want to be a direct contributor to positive change for the environment; then this job may just be right for you.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Masters degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry.
4+ years of experience in related position or combination of education and experience. - 4+ years of experience doing PCR, DNA ligation and cloning, restriction enzyme digestion of DNA, DNA purification, agarose gel electrophoresis, and preparation of DNA samples post PCR for sequencing.
- 2+ years of experience working on recombinant protein expression in plants.
- 2+ years of experience constructing plasmids for transformation into plants.
- 2+ years of experience working with plant tissue cultures using sterile techniques.
- 2+ years of experience preparing reports and presenting findings in discussions and meetings.
- Precision expertise in laboratory conduct, management, and maintenance.
- Highly responsible and can self-task to ensure that objectives are completed expeditiously.
- Has a passion for learning and contributing to a game-changing project.
